68, of Pawtucket, RI, passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of Friday, March 9, 2018. She was born in Sal Island, Cape Verde. She emigrated to Italy as a young adult and returned to her relatives in Cape Verde a decade later. In 2000 she settled in Pawtucket with her daughter Sarita Da Rosa until her passing. Ms. Lelis was an avid soccer fan who loved the soccer fields and enjoyed watching soccer games while she socialized with Cape Verdeans in the community. She loved parties, dancing and deeply enjoyed every second of her life with her family, friends, the staffs and friends at New Horizons Adult Center which she attended for 18 years, and so many people who adored her dearly. She touched us all with her contagious laughs, beautiful smile, unique sense of humor, beauty and outgoing energy.
Ms. Lelis was the daughter of the late Mrs. Antonia Nascimento Brito and Mr. Jose Lelis Brito.
She is survived by her two loving daughters Sarita Da Rosa of Pawtucket and Heidi Vieira of Portugal. Her Son in Law Jose Fernandes, her four sisters Margarida Lelis, Madalena Lelis Ramos, Filomena Lelis and Idalina Lelis, and her brother Luis Eduardo Lelis. She also left behind her beautiful grandchildren Jayde, Jaylin, Jayilson, Jaselle and Liah, several nieces and nephews and countless loving friends of whom she adored very much. Ms. Lelis passing left a painful wound in our hearts where we will keep her sweet memory forever.
